About this Sermon
The Tree of Life
Who I am
Every man and woman is made in God’s image.
Genesis 1:27 – So God created human beings in his own image. In the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.
I am not a mistake. I am created and designed by God. I am marvelous.
Psalm 139:14 – Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex! Your workmanship is marvelous—how well I know it.
God doesn’t judge me by my appearance. He sees my heart.
1 Samuel 16:7 – For the Lord sees not as man sees: man looks on the outward appearance, but the Lord looks on the heart.”
My past and shame are gone
God loved me so much that He died for me.
Galatians 2:20 – So I live in this earthly body by trusting in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.
I am clean from all my sin.
1 John 1:9 – But if we confess our sins to him, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all wickedness.
God has completely forgotten my sinful past.
Hebrews 10:17-18 – Then he says,“I will never again remember their sins and lawless deeds.” 18 And when sins have been forgiven, there is no need to offer any more sacrifices.
I am family
I’m a child of God.
1 John 3:1 – See how very much our Father loves us, for he calls us his children, and that is what we are!
God chose me and wanted me to be in His family.
Ephesians 1:5 – God decided in advance to adopt us into his own family by bringing us to himself through Jesus Christ. This is what he wanted to do, and it gave him great pleasure.
God wants me to be personal and close with Him.
Galatians 4:6 – And because we are his children, God has sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, prompting us to call out, “Abba, Father.” (Note: “Abba” means we call him “dad”)
God is giving me power for today
No matter how difficult today is, God is holding my hand and is here to help me.
Isaiah 41:13 – For I hold you by your right hand—I, the Lord your God. And I say to you, ‘Don’t be afraid. I am here to help you.
I’m called to choose strength and courage.
Joshua 1:9 – This is my command—be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”
God has taken away my fear and changed my spirit to be strong and powerful.
2 Timothy 1:7 – For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline.
God knows me deeply
I am a source of joy to God (He isn’t annoyed by me)
Zephaniah 3:17 – He will take delight in you with gladness. With his love, he will calm all your fears. He will rejoice over you with joyful songs.”
I am precious to God (I’m not just a face in the crowd)
Isaiah 43:4 – You are precious to me. You are honored, and I love you.
I am a masterpiece of God and He has a plan for my life.
Ephesians 2:10 – For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.
God’s plan for me is good.
Jeremiah 29:11 – For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.
My name is engraved on God’s hands.
Isaiah 49:15-16 – Can a mother forget her nursing child? Can she feel no love for the child she has borne? But even if that were possible, I would not forget you! 16 See, I have written your name on the palms of my hands.
God knows the exact number of hairs on my head.
Luke 12:7 – The very hairs on your head are all numbered. So don’t be afraid.
God has chosen a new, unique name for me and I’ll receive it on a white stone.
Revelation 2:17 – And I will give to each one a white stone, and on the stone will be engraved a new name that no one understands except the one who receives it.
God’s passion for me won’t ever end
God’s love for me will never end.
Jeremiah 31:3 – “I have loved you, My people, with an everlasting love!”
Not even Hell can separate me from God’s love.
Romans 8:38 – And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love.
