Here at Grace, we believe that dedicating your child(ren) to God is an important event in the life of your family. It is a commitment to the Lord and to your children and can lay the foundation of their faith. In this class, you will learn about what it means to dedicate your child to God, the importance of continually speaking a blessing over their lives, and the vital aspects of that spoken blessing.
After completing the Child Dedication class, we’ll hold a dedication service the following Sunday. At that time, you and your family will join our Kids Director on stage after worship, and once you share your blessing, we’ll pray over you and your family, celebrate with you, and then continue with the service as usual.
Child Dedication FAQs
Is having my child dedicated the same as
having him/her christened or baptized?
Dedication and baptism are not synonymous terms. We believe a person must make a personal decision to be baptized. However, through dedication you are acknowledging that your child is a blessing from God and that you desire God’s blessing throughout your child’s life.
How old does my child have to be?
How old is too old?
There is no minimum or maximum age, any child who is not yet ready or does not fully understand the decision to be baptized, can be dedicated! Older Elementary, Middle, and High school students who are interested in baptism can talk with their respective Pastor to find out more about baptism.
